COME FOR THE MARKET, STAY FOR THE DAY

BRING YOUR KIDS, NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS

There's lots to do and see in these thriving and growing neighborhoods.

See the innovative Guthrie Theater, visit the historic Mill City Museum. Kids will love the interactive play stations and milling presentations. Get great decorating ideas by stopping into many of the new developments popping up along the river. Wear your walking shoes and take a hike around the river or across the Stone Arch Bridge, St. Anthony Falls, or the Upper Lock & Dam. There are lots of new restaurants and shops opening everywhere.

Sit and relax at the Mill City Farmers Market with a great cup of coffee and a goody at Brenda Langton's Spoonriver restaurant. We hope this market is not only a fun neighborhood and destination spot for Minnesota residents, but another way to share the many benefits of local sustainable and organically produced foods.

GOOD FOR HEALTH, GOOD FOR COMMUNITY

  • Buying directly from local and small family farmers and entrepreneurs keeps them in business and produces more jobs in our own communit
  • Eating locally produced foods saves energy by reducing the amount of miles your food has to travel.
  • Eating locally grown, seasonal, sustainable and organic foods is tastier and healthier for you and your family. Locally grown foods are fresher, and retain their healthy nutrients longer. Sustainable and organic foods protect your health, and the environment. These foods are free of antibiotics, pesticides and other potentially dangerous chemicals.
  • At the Market seek out and learn to cook with a variety of greens, heirloom varieties and local specialties. You'll be encouraging crop diversity on our farms which makes for healthier crops and a healthier environment and you'll discover a world of new and wonderful foods.
  • Reuse bags to reduce packaging waste, energy and save money.
  • Prepare meals from scratch using fresh or raw ingredients rather than relying on convenience food, which may include harmful preservatives, dyes, and low-quality ingredients.
  • Patronize restaurants that buy from local farmers and serve healthy environmentally-friendly food.
